How to make mp3 louder (encourage volume)?
Sunday, March 2, 2008
Many Readers asked for solution on how to make an existing mp3 file louder (encourage volume). From my experience, I did realized inconsistency in volume of mp3 files in my mp3 collection and it was troublesome to change the volume slider for each song with different loudness.
What I did to rectify this problem was simple. I altered the loudness of the mp3 file, since originally, the mp3 file’s amplitude was predetermined by the recording company. The software that I used, MP3Gain analyzed mp3 files to determine how loud they sound to human ear and then adjusted the mp3 files so that they have the same loudness without any quality loss or change in file size.
- Download MP3Gain (freeware) from sourceforge and install the software.
- If you receive this error; “component ‘MSCOMCTL.OCX’ or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid” ; download this additional file and install it.
- Run Mp3Gain software
- “Add files” (Only Mp3) to Mp3Gain which you want to make loud, Select Files which you want to make Loud, Adjust volume on “Target Volume” box (enter db above 98 to 108, according to your need. Normal Mp3 Tracks have 80 to 90 db, which is little low volume, You can keep it above 95 db for higher volume, Try your self )
- Click Track Gain and play the modified file using your mp3 player.
