How to prepare the Best Diet for your Birds at Home?

Maintain a healthy diet for your bird. An imbalanced diet leads to disease and early death in most cases. As a rule, start with a healthy diet during the bird's infantry stage.

  • Do not feed birds on seeds alone (yes even the seed eating ones need an occasional change). Introduce a diet which has a variety of vitamins and minerals and is inclusive of vegetables and fruit.
  • Pelleted food is also a good idea for birds. Generally the pellets are a rich blend of grain, seeds, vegetables, fruits and a variety of proteins. Larger birds should be fed higher portion of these.
  • Fruit and vegetable, when fed to the bird should be presented in their most natural state (this offers the bird entertainment, besides birds decide on their favourites by looking at texture and taste). Droppings may increase after feeding the bird natural fruit and vegetable, but this is natural.
  • Replace uneaten portions with a fresh fill.
  • Another favourite with all birds is sprouted seeds, so give them a generous helping.
  • Bugs are also an essential part of a healthy bird diet.
  • An ideal diet should contain 10 per cent fruit, 50 per cent vegetables, and a dash of meat and dairy products, backed up by seeds, nuts or pelleted foods.

Strictly avoid feeding birds junk food as also matter like chocolate and alcohol.
